We are particularly eager to work with artists of color and other artists from marginalized communities. All auditions are free and open to the public. This audition is for an amateur, volunteer production. The Majestic Theatre staff and volunteers do not discriminate on the basis of age, national origin, race, gender, ethnic background, ability, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, or any protected class.
These auditions are for an amateur volunteer production of a memorized one-act show, and will be held in person at the Majestic Theatre.
SHOW SYNOPSIS
Fifty eight year old Margaret Hartman, dying slowly in a nursing facility from early onset Alzheimer’s disease, contracts COVID-19 in April of 2020. Her family anticipates her imminent death with a mixture of grief and relief. But weeks after she is placed on a ventilator, Margaret begins to recover. When she is finally awake, she no longer has Alzheimer’s. During the four years that Margaret has spent in a nursing home, many changes have occurred and family members have made plans for when she is gone. This “resurrection” changes everything and causes upheaval and chaos in the family dynamics.
FROM THE DIRECTOR, Stephanie Long
I am honored to announce that my play, Resurrection, will be produced in the Majestic Theatre Lab (upstairs), Corvallis, on May 17 and 18, 2025. Although part of the Reader’s Theatre season, the one act play will be fully produced and memorized by the actors. After two well-received workshop performances in June of 2023, directed by Fiely Matias, and many edits, I am excited to direct the play myself. I am seeking six committed actors between the ages of 30 and 70 for this fast paced, heartbreaking, yet joyful and funny play.
