We are particularly eager to work with artists of color and other artists from marginalized communities. All auditions are free and open to the public. This audition is for an amateur, volunteer production. The Majestic Theatre staff and volunteers do not discriminate on the basis of age, national origin, race, gender, ethnic background, disability, religious beliefs, or sexual orientation.

Synopsis:

Military veterans find a voice to share their stories of service when matched up with local playwrights and actors to bring their stories to the stage. These eight, 12-minute or less, plays explore the realities of serving and being a veteran in our country.

Production Plan: The plan is for this production to be rehearsed and performed live for in-person audiences on November 11 (3 pm) and 12 (7:30 pm), 2022.

From the Director: Being part of South Willamette Valley Honor Flight (www.swvhonorflight.org) for nearly 10 years has produced within me a great appreciation for our veterans. Spending time with veterans has been one of the greatest blessings in my life. It is an honor and privilege to create a space for us to hear our veterans’ voices. Please email Leighmbock@comcast.net to receive a selection of sides from some of our past veteran stories. Video yourself on your phone or computer performing/reading one side, and email it to Leighmbock@comcast.net by Thursday, September 20, 2022 by 5 pm with any rehearsal conflict(s).

This project is performed as a reader's theatre, you will not be required to memorize lines. Looking for up to 8 actors (Excited to work with actors who are military veterans and of any gender, racial, and ethnic identity). Parts assigned on or about September 22. Readthrough on Tuesday, October 4 at 6:30 pm – all actors. Rehearsal schedule is as follows (every actor may not be scheduled for every rehearsal during October, all actors will be required at each rehearsal beginning November 2): October 5, 10, 12, 17, 19, 24, 26, and November 2, 7, & 9. If the Oregon Health Authority guidelines for theaters allows live performances, performances will be November 11 and 12.

Content Warnings: combat depictions, harsh language, violence.

Veterans' Voices Project explores the realities of serving and being a veteran in our country. The content is written locally and inspired by real veterans lending their voice to the plays. This show will give the audience a lens into what service is like, the highs, lows and everything in between.
